The process. Iron wire machining is normally done through a process known as electric discharge machining. This is an industrial process whereby the desired shape is obtaining using electrical sparks. A series of rapidly recurring current discharges removes the unwanted material. This current passes through two electrodes that are normally separated by a dielectric liquid. The intensity of the electric field is increased by reducing the distance between the two electrodes. This allows current to flow between the two electrodes. As a result, material is removed from the two electrodes. The removed material is carried away by the dielectric liquid once the current is stopped.
iron wire manufacturersThere are several advantages of this wire machining process. To start with, the process can produce an excellent surface finish. Thus, its use removes the unwanted material, leaving a smooth and desirable surface. The process can also be used where small work pieces are involved. This is because, the work pieces cannot be destroyed in the process as it is the case when working with conventional working tools. Since there is no direct contact between tool and the wire, delicate and weak surfaces can also be machined without any distortions. The process can also be used in drilling fine holes on the surfaces.
iron wire machiningSome of the disadvantages of this process include high power consumption and excessive wear of tools during machining. The process also poses the threat of fire outbreaks due to combustion of oil based dielectrics. The rate of material removal is also slow.
We produce a wide range of items made of steel wire. Our products have no sharp edges to guarantee maximum safety, according to the UNI CEI EN ISO 13488 standards. Our products undergo pickling treatments to eliminate any debris from the refinishing processes, as well as other finishing treatments like electrolytic polishing and Rilsan or polyethylene coating.
Toffoli SpA is a certified company. As a matter of fact, we are UNI EN ISO 9001:2008 and UNI EN ISO 14001:2008 certified, and our materials are certified as well.
