What is metal grating. Metal grating is used in every industry because of its major advantage of providing security to the machines and staff as well. Metal grating is an assembled metal lattice of crossbars used to space and hold bars erect. The assembled metal is used to cover various openings. Metal technical gratings provide a surface but allow light, sound, air and water to pass through. They are reliable industrial flooring products because they can withstand heavy traffic, rolling loads and heavy equipment.

Types of gratings

There are several metal grating products available in the market. Welded steel grating, pressure locked grating, riveted grating and aluminum plank grating are the most popular types of metal gratings. Welded steel grating is achieved by electrically fusing steel cross bars to steel load bars. Riveted grating is the oldest type of metal grating. This type of grating is highly recommended in difficult stress situations such as mezzanine, plant floors, highway and bridges. These are areas where a lot of strength and stiffness is required. Pressure grating is mainly used in architectural applications including ornamental grilles and high traffic public areas. Finally, aluminum gratings are light weight, easy to install and low-cost. These gratings however, have excellent strength to weight ratio and are corrosive resistant.
