Nickel electroplating is a process also called nickel electro-deposition. The process is increasingly gaining popularity for various manufacturing applications. The process itself involves using electrical current for coating conductive material made from metal with a layer of nickel. Platinum, zinc, copper and stainless steel are other metals used in the electroplating process.

Some of the features include increased resistance to corrosion, improved hardness, resistance to wear, superior strength and improved ductility. Nickel is most often used because it provides hardness, corrosion resistance and superior ductility to the base metal. Some of the chemicals used in the process help to deliver satin, pearl, or matte finishes.
nichel electroplatingTransferring nickel to the surface of the base metal requires use of a negative charge applied to the recipient. In order to achieve this, the metal is attached to a power supply like a battery or rectifier through a conductive wire. On attachment, a nickel rod is connected via a similar manner to a positive side of the power source. The base metal is then submerged in a solution of chemicals, salt and electroplating metal. During the electro nickel process, the solution is made up of nickel chloride salt and water. The electric current causes the nickel chloride salt to dissociate to chloride ion and nickel cat-ions. In the following chemical reaction, nickel in the rod dissolves and oxidizes, coating the base product in the process.
We produce a wide range of items made of steel wire. Our products have no sharp edges to guarantee maximum safety, according to the UNI CEI EN ISO 13488 standards. Our products undergo pickling treatments to eliminate any debris from the refinishing processes, as well as other finishing treatments like electrolytic polishing and Rilsan or polyethylene coating.
Toffoli SpA is a certified company. As a matter of fact, we are UNI EN ISO 9001:2008 and UNI EN ISO 14001:2008 certified, and our materials are certified as well.
