Shot peening and what it does. Peening is a mechanical process which involves creating rapid-fire impact against a given metal surface. This bombardment, which occurs via small beads of glass, ceramic, aluminium, or stainless steel material, creates a layer of stress which effectively compresses the treated metal surface and enhances its fatigue and stress resistance properties. This is an important finishing process, as the manufacture of metal parts induces internal stressors which can give rise to defects over time. Creating an external compression layer adds durability and compensates for that internal stress.
stainless steel machinabilityBeing both very hard and very lightweight, glass beads offer many advantages to an abrasive blasting process such as stainless steel glass-bead peening. Glass beads are customisable in size, which is especially important at choice smaller diameters, and that makes them adapted to use for smaller or more intricate parts. In addition, glass is recyclable, and it presents a blend of physical and chemical properties which makes it particularly suited to interacting with non-ferrous metals including aluminium and steel. Overall, stainless steel glass-bead peening is as safe and reliable as it is economical.
stainless steel glass bead peeningThe TOFFOLI stainless steel glass-bead peening process improves the surface finish of products by cleaning, abrading, smoothing, and removing material imperfections, welding traces and burrs. This treatment guarantees a smooth and polished result, yielding a surface finish which can be offered in a set of three aesthetic choices: matt, bright or shiny/peened.
We produce a wide range of items made of steel wire. Our products have no sharp edges to guarantee maximum safety, according to the UNI CEI EN ISO 13488 standards. Our products undergo pickling treatments to eliminate any debris from the refinishing processes, as well as other finishing treatments like electrolytic polishing and Rilsan or polyethylene coating.
Toffoli SpA is a certified company. As a matter of fact, we are UNI EN ISO 9001:2008 and UNI EN ISO 14001:2008 certified, and our materials are certified as well.
